Apprentice- $70/hr

Meet Kaylynn, our newest apprentice at Badlands! Her down to earth, low key nature will make you feel super relaxed whilst in her chair. This Oregonian loves working on all types of color projects from all over tints to multi-colored vivids. She also rocks creative, textured cuts such as mullets, shags, and pixies to name a few styles! Catch Kaylynn on the slopes, cooking a good meal, thrifting, or hanging by the river when not at the salon.

Specialities: vivid hair coloring, mullets, and shags.

Stylist- $80/hr

Abby is one of those special stylists who will immediately make you feel like you’ve known her for years. She approaches her craft in a laid back, creative, and efficient manner. This Bend native launched her career as a hairstylist in Portland before recently moving back home to Central Oregon. She loves crafting high quality long layers and shags, and lived in blonde color. When not at the studio, catch Abby competing in roller derby, swimming in one of the Cascade Lakes, or at a local concert!

Specialities: long layers, shags, bouncy blowouts, and lived in blonding.

Stylist- $120/hr

Everyone welcome Sarah to Badlands! She’s an experienced stylist of many years who moved from Washington D.C. to Bend last year. Sarah offers collaborative, custom hairstyling informed by your personal style, hair texture, natural coloring, bone structure, and maintenance goals. All services are delivered within a calm, intentional experience designed to enhance what makes you glow. When she’s not in the salon, you’ll likely find her chasing waterfalls, heading out on river hikes, or on a matcha run.

Specialties: custom cuts and color, and balayage, with an emphasis on helping clients learn how to style their hair.

Stylist— $80/hour

Seeking a stylist who has a great attention to detail and passion for making anyone that sits in her chair feel affirmed? Keely’s your human. She’s always striving to improve her craft to create the most relaxing, custom experience for all of her clients. When not at the studio, you can find this local Bendite snowboarding, taking nature walks, or curling up with her cat Penelope at home with a good book.

Specialities: lived in color, grey blending, and custom cuts for all hair textures/lengths with an emphasis on wavy and curly hair.

Fun fact, Sarah was the very first employee at Badlands when we opened back in 2022! You might recognize her from the many roles she has taken on at the salon. We warmly welcome her back in her new role as a stylist! Her strive for excellence in learning technical skills, and friendly personality will have you laughing in her chair and calling her your BFF in no time. When she’s not slaying hair, find her working out, hosting get togethers at her house, or hanging with her family and pups!

Specialities: high impact blonding, and thick hair textures.

Looking for a hairstylist who’s creative, down to earth, and ultra calming? You’re in luck, because Karl’s that kind of human. Her passions behind the chair include fun alternative cuts (think shags, pixies, bixies, mullets) and anything cut with a razor. When Karl’s not crafting fun hair at Badlands you can find her thrifting for art at local shops or enjoying the outdoors with her two kids.

Specialties: shags, pixies, alternative short cuts, razor cutting, and working with natural textures.

Meet Kiersten! She’s passionate about helping clients embrace their hair goals and is always down for a creative challenge. She loves connecting and holding space for clients while also being able to work with her hands. Born and raised in Bend, she’s called places like Portland, Seattle, and even South America home. When she’s not at the salon, catch Kiersten on the slopes coaching high school skiing, riding her bike, going to live music, working local festivals, and cooking gourmet meals.

Specialties: alternative haircutting with an emphasis on curly textures, and razor cutting.

Kaylynn’s joyous attitude and kind spirit are bound to make anyone feel comfortable in her chair. She is your go to human for those seeking natural blonding and precision cutting. This Oregon native has been hard at work raising a family while chasing her childhood dream of being a hairstylist. When not in the studio you can find this self-proclaimed foodie in one of Bend’s amazing restaurants or traveling around the state with her family of four.

Specialties: blonding/lightening services, precision haircutting, and working with naturally wavy/curly hair textures.

You know those humans who make you feel like a million bucks immediately after meeting them? Yup… that’s Jonae. In addition to technical abilities, Jonae will make sure you’re well taken care of from consultation to finished style. She rocks all types of cuts and coloring on all textures. When she’s not behind the chair you can find her spending time with her little one or dancing in the kitchen while making cajun food.

Specialties: haircutting for curly, wavy, thick, and thin textures, creative hair coloring, and razor cutting.

Heather is a hairstylist of 17+ years and former Portlandian who moved to Bend with the hopes of bringing a new kind of salon (i.e. clean, sustainable, inclusive) to town. Badlands is the result of this long-awaited intention. As a clean hair care advocate and educator, Heather is on a mission to create the salon experience that so many health/environmentally conscious Bendites have been waiting for.

Salon Manager

McKensie is the puzzle piece that completes our team at Badlands. She’s driven to see stylists thrive, and make sure every human that walks through the doors feels welcome, comfortable, and taken care of.

When she’s not at the studio you can find her at the gym, taking nature walks with her husband and two dogs or hunting for vintage finds for her secondhand clothing business Articles of Thrift.
